Alright, I'm officially going to make a thread speifically for all of my unrelated artwork.... because I have so damn much of the stuff. >< The first being one of my most successful attempts at cell-shading. It was quick, it was pretty easy and it was fun to play around with the colors once I was finished. But, over all, I don't really like the image. Azazel (the one on the far right) isn't on the same plain as the other two, he has a different perspective and his pupils are too big, which makes him look out of character. Plus, I think I made his shadows too dark. Kael (the one in the middle) came out best though, so ig uess I'm happy about that... and this is the first image to feature Ferringer (process of elimination folks, you figure out which one he is) who had a very fuzzy, unspecified design until now. I mgiht turn his yellow markings gray though... I'm not sure. >.> Anyway, enjoy.... I guess. I'm swamped with unrelated art-related projects this weekend since I'm waaaaay behind on my painting homework and I promised a friend I'd draw her something nasty two or three weeks ago... but I'll try to get some promo stuff done, like River's character still or an animation of Josie. ;3

Wow i think this picture if perfect in every way - i am soo so bad at drawing everything but there was one time where someone paid me to draw them a circle, but that was with a compass! Anyway i'm sure all of us here would love to see more of your master pieces.

Wow... I have no idea what you're talking about. There are a hundred things wrong with this. Azzy's perspective is grotesquely incorrect compared to the other two, Kael's face is warped, Ferringer's ears are way too far apart, Azazel is too small in comparison to the other two, the background is too distractingly busy, and, overall, the who picture is lacking harmony amongst the characters (they don't really appear to be interacting with each other)... But I thank you for automatically assuming that my artwork is perfect, when it so totally is not. ;3

In cases of artwork the artist always points out the weaknesses instead of the strengths but of course i can't see any faults even at a closer look *shows magnifying Glass* but maybe it's because i don't know much about the canine anatomy.

That's a good way to put it Sky. ^^ But it's important to see all the wrongs in your artwork. that way, you can improve by making sure to avoid such mistakes in your next drawing. That's why i find it so irritating on DA when the only comments I get are "That's nice!" or "Cool." >< That doesn't help me improve as an artist, the least people could do is tell me what they like... >.> Anyway, enough of my complaints. ;3 I have a tiger. ^^

Looks good. Are one of the canines supposed to be longer than the other?

At least you get comments. D': But I seriously love your artwork, no matter how many flaws. Flaws are a good thing, because perfect art is boring. Everyone has their own style of drawing stuff, realistic or not. (I tend to not really stay in the limits of anatomy, I just feel more free drawing stuff that's physically impossible.)

Thank you Josie. ^^ The canines are supposed to be the same length but because the facial perspective is tweaked, one looks longer than the other. ^^;
As for you Morsus, I'd rather get zero comments than pages and pages of "Awesome!" ><
There's a difference between functional and realistic artwork. When I'm talking about flaws, I'm not talking about realism like fur direction or pupil size or something stupidly specific like that. I mean, when you ('you' as in a viewer) look at one of my pictures, what is the first thing you see is wrong with it? If you ponder "Why is one tooth longer than the other?", then tell me (thank you Sadae ^^). Not because it will make the image more realistic, but because it makes the image more plausible and therefore enjoyable to the human eye. Kay Fedewa's art isn't realistic by any stretch of the imagination but it's functional. When people look at it, they believe it. They don't believe it's real, like a photograph or anything but they feel the image all the same, understand what's happening and what it sort of means...

I really like the pic, but I don't think this is an example of cell shading. Cell shading has defined shadows and highlights, with a lot of contrast. This is too smooth and blended to be considered cell shading. I really love the pic, tho. you're too hard of yourself, it's really nice =P

I call it cell-shading because of the technique I use, which is exactly as you described: one layer for shadows, one for highlights and a lot of contrast initially. I just blur it at the end. ;3 It's a lot different than my usual shading style involving the 'burn' and 'dodge' tools and I'm actually beginning to get annoyed with it. >.>
It really does nothing for the pic though. I should've shaded it the normal way. ><

I noticed. Major awesomeness, though you might want to upload a sort of color study for your character even though you will be the only one animating him. You may not be the only one coloring him. ;3

Tada! ^^ This be the craptacular image that was: a) taking all of my attention, and b) irritating me beyond all belief. >< I can't shade hair for my life. I can do fur, I can do skin but not hair. Bleh. >.> I can't shade clothing either, which is also a major pain since I really didn't need to include clothing in this pic but I did anyway, for some ungodly stupid reason... Whatever though. i managed to complete it before I found a reason to hate it. ^^ Do click on it for the full sized version, which looks ten times better. ;3

X3 Yes, she has a tendency to pwn everything and anything around her, despite the cruddy shading and the cheap background.
