So, I've been brainstorming a layout for the new forum and I'm stuck between two options. Either have the rules and the character profile board be in one category together at the top of the forum, or have the rules and announcements be together and split the character creation board into two: one board where members post their characters and a second where they are moved by the staff when accepted.

I kind of like the second idea because, that way, we can create a sub-board in the accepted profiles board for each member. That way, as they create more characters, all the characters can be easily grouped, all of theirs going into the 'accepted profiles' sub-board created for them. It would save everybody the trouble of making those character collection threads. People could just link to their accepted character sub-board.

I hope I'm not explaining this weird. o.O

I've seen it done before and I thought it was a good system, especially if we're going to keep the one character per account rule. It'll make it pretty obvious as to which characters belong to whom.

So then, what should we do about the other character-based services? Things like mini-plot planning, character tracking (should people even want it, it might be unnecessary), deaths and births. Should they be in the same category you think? Or should they be separate?

Perhaps a board in the out of character section called "Character Resources", with all of that stuff being sub-boards?

Well mini-plots and other such things usually never get written down in any form except rp form. like on this forum, I think there were only really two that were used. As for Births and Deaths, I think tey should be in the same category, just another sub-board. And when a character dies, they can simply have their profiles moved as they wont be used anymore.

Fair enough. I can accept that since I'm trying to cut down on the number of boards on the main page. I have a tendency to make so many, it looks cluttered and nasty. X3

So, what if dead characters are instead marked in the title? When a character dies, the word [DEAD] can just be put in the title of their bio as a general rule on the site. And pups can just be handled like we've always handled them. Their designs can be posted in the design/adoption section and then, once they've been given to players, those players can just make bios for them like they would any character.

The adoption board can go in the character category, I suppose, underneath "accepted bios", with designs being a sub-board. Or, maybe we should have a "Character happenings" board underneath "accepted bios" and put births, deaths, and adoptions all right in there.

Not really. I've been thinking about it but I haven't been making any big decisions just yet. I figured I'd just get the boards and general layout set up by the end of today so we could move our discussion over there. That's my priority right now.

The skin can come pretty much whenever. It's not that important. ^^
