Barbaro who had been fighting for his life for 8 long months was put down to day after a surgery could not help the pain and discomfort he felt in his right hind leg. This board is just for people to tell their feelings on this sad situation. Personally, I was glad that they decided to give him a chance at life rather than put him down right on the spot. I had been hoping to see him recover fully and live the rest of his days out to pasture and really thought he could pull through but then things got worse than they ever had. My condolances go out to Edgar Prado, the Jackson's, and his trainer as I'm sure this as to be something hard to deal with considering just how heart-wrenching this was. If there is an afterlife, may his soul rest in peace. He was a true champion right down to the end.

Well said. I actually didn't hear about his death until this afternoon, but it makes me sad. I'm glad he got a chance, too. I'm also glad a lot of people cared about him, rather than going, "Oh, he's just a horse".

Rather than going he'll die anyway. Maybe Barbaro didn't die in vain, maybe this will let people see that they could possibly survive a bone injury.

I found a really nice picture of him. I'm gonna miss him.
