Clink clink. I could hear my own breathing. Haunting as it may seemed, it was the only existence of my life. Shattering and almost heartbreaking. Oh how I loathed the very sound of those damn chains. Still hanging loosely from that condemned collar. One of these days I'll order Arktos to crack that damn collar. Oh how the cold feeling brings such bad memories. I could almost choke and die. Yea choke and die, it sounded like a good idea right now. But committing a suicidal act sounded like such a coward's act. No I was not coward, how dare I speak of such things!
I can hear the beatings of my paws as they scraped across the earth. Was I moving now? Yes yes I was, how painful.
The hound extracted her ears and pricked them up. Sensing around for anything interesting. Arktos was not at her side at the current moment. He must have left to go do some business of his own. No matter, she could handle just fine until he was to return.
She walked among the lands, not caring of where or whom these lands came to or belonged to. Her body was aligned perfect fully yet ridged all the same. Her head hung as her body hung. Her tail swaying from side to side as she walked. Her claws scraping across the earth as her fangs bit deeply into her maw. Not enough to draw blood though. No of course not, that would only drive her crazy for hunger. Speaking of hunger, she felt almost hungry now, but she had no waste of energy left to even consider hunting for herself.
There it goes again. I can hear voices, music..No no music..just voices. I can hear sounds, calling to me. Come back they say. Run away they say. I wish they would leave me the hell alone! Such annoying sounds I could almost vomit and die on my own blood. I’m through with this! Roll over and die!
Such hurtful thoughts that kept the hellhound going. Making her way to a river as she peered into her reflection. Oh how intriguing it was to stare at her own reflection. Wondering and pondering on who was staring back at her. Knowing the only thing she’d ever see was the deepest pits of hell itself, such a cold and dark place it was.
Who are you?

There was a harsh clinking noise as claws met dirt and rock, almost a faintly metalic sound. The large paws padded and sank into the soft ground benieth them as the form tread along. He stood for a moment, looking around and thinking, before carefully bounding over to a nearby tree. Turning around, he scratched his back on the rough bark, pleased apparently. His spine felt itchy today, perhaps it would snow.
Arktus, after shaking the loose pieces of tree from his back like a wet dog, his took a moment to choose which direction was right. Eva was not far off, he could smell her.
Previously, he had noticed a plesant looking wolly bear and had stopped to peer at it, his tremendous form hovering above it like a ruined watch tower. It was then that he had lagged behind Eva and decided to explore a bit before returning. He had never been to such a place as this before and it intrigued him greatly. But not he was done and he slowly meandered off, returning to his friend's side. He knew she had probubly gone a little ways, and with his slow gait, it would take a bit to reach her, but he would definetly reach her eventually. She was not hard to find.
It was not often that he strayed, but he did every now and then, lost in thought. He had much on his mind right now and much to ponder over. His thoughts drifted here and there, to the labs, to his ruined form... to his friend.
He wheezed a bit and snorted.
After a few moments, he came through the foliage and spotted her off in the distance near a river.

She slowly dipped her head to the smell of water. Lapping out her snake-like tongue and quenched as much of her thirst as she could. Wrinkling her maw in disgust to the pure taste of the water. She almost vomitted and pricked up her ears. Taking in her surrondings ever so closely. Flexing her claws and scraping them across the banks as she shifted her position. Her tail tuft flicking absently as she slunked to her haunches.
Who is this that stares before me? I can not seem to get through this hell of a darkness. It almost seems like someone is mocking me. How dare they do such things. One of these days...
She snorted and jerked her head as she just barely heard the sound of pawsteps. She curled her lips into a snarl, exposing her fangs as she growled at the intruder. But then her senses dawned on her dear friend's scent. She quickly restrain herself and dipped her head in apology to Arktos. Slowly lifting up as she made her way to his scent. Bumping into his fur to get a quick feel of her dear friend.
To know that it was her friend and no one else.
A warm smile caressed her maw as she absently looked up to her friend. Her eyes were as pale as usual. Oh how she wished she could see her dear friend.
"Arktos my dear friend. You have returned to my side. I was beginning to worry. I hope your adventure was fun."
She smiled warmly.
"The voices still haunt my very mind as usual. But come we have a nice day out. There isn't another creature in sight. So no one to bother us."
She nodded and motioned to the river. Slowly taking in the scent as she made her way back there. Slunking straight to the ground as she laid her maw between her paws.
The time of change.

Arktos lumbered to her side in great, heavy strides, painstaking work. He did not stir at first, as she seemed not to recognize him. He knew of her senses. After a moment she seemed to realize who it was who came to her now.
He lowered himself as his joints creaked and gently rubbed his head against hers. For a time, he was reduced to a purring cat, but then he rose again and became a bear once more. He was glad to see her. He was glad to know she was there.
His eyes were warm and his round ears flushed forward, listening. His form was loose. There was a hint of a smile on upon his features, but nothing outright, nothing obvious. It made no difference anyway; she could not see his smile even if he had.
"I apologize for my absence. I did not intend to have you feel bad over my wanderings." He paused. "It was a great adventure, indeed."
His voice boomed like quiet thunder, like a new light off against the sky. It was not harsh, nor was it soft, but it was warm, as her smile seemed to be.
He took notice of these voices. They made him worry, but he knew Eva was strong.
He nodded in response, his fur ruffled and rasped slightly in the wind. "Ah."
Slipping sweetly over to the river, he looked at it, staring at himself as she had, but he saw himself as she did not. He turned his head this way and that then dipped his nose in the water and snorted, sending up a small flurry of cold bubbles.
He drank the water in. It was crisp, cool. He did not mind its fresh feel, nor did he prefer it. It was more of toleration.
Pulling his head up, the clear water dripped off it, pelting the rest of the surface with ripples and waves.
He looked around, listened, smelled and tasted. Here was a new world. There was no better place for a walk with a good and dear friend.

His fur and scent was so warm, so soft against her ruff fur. But in sense her fur had been soft at one time. Had she left it out to rot and secure it's own taste? Perhaps that had been so. But she was not a cleansting dog nor would she be a snobby bitch either. She was in between to say the least. She might have no betweens at all. Her rates were low and yet high in some point of sense. She did not tolerate arrogant morons or stupid fools.
I could care less.
Ah his voice was like music to her ears. The sound of the raging thunder. She could almost sense the thunders from the heavens. Perhaps he was the storm that towered over her, yet kept her safe and warm at the same time. Though the sound was more obsecure in her ears, she still welcomed it with open...paws?
"Do not apologizes Arktos. You have every right to wander where you wish. If that is your wish, then do so my dear friend. Please do not let me control what freedom you have. I will be fine and will even join you."
She adjusted her features and lifted her head. Dipping it up towards the skies as she tasted the sweet sweet air. Lapping out her snake-like tongue and taking in the senses that came about. Smelling more with the likes of her tongue then her nose. Though both senses still useful, a snake smelt with its tongue. Though she was not a snake, it sure felt like it.
You rat bastard human. I'll soon have you meet your grave.

Arctos was stoll, taking everything in around him. He was learning. He was always learning, thinking, pondering. He breathed in and out trying to analyze this world, but he could not nearly fathom all it's depths, so he took what he could.
He watched Eva do as she did. His mind wandered to other things.
He sighed
I wish we could live as we were ment to...
He wished deeply, but knew it could not be so, no matter how he tried to bring it forth. All he had now, were dreams and wishes.
Dreams and wishes
Dreams and wishes that would never come true.
But he kept them all the same.
He brought himself back into the world around him. He didn't like this world as much.

She half-glanced to her friend, still darkness, but she could sense the uneasiness and interest. She smiled lightly and turned her attention away. She scraped her claws across the ground as she lifted to all fours. Arching her back and stretching, flexing her muscles to get rid of any tensions. She turned her attention to the smell of the river.
"Arktos?"
She paused.
"This world...it seems so cruel. What we''ve been through feels like hell it's self."
She laughed, shaking her head as she pawed the earth. Turning her gaze to meet the ground. Her tail wavering back and forth.
"I wonder what the other side looks like."
