Conduct:
- Respect all staff. No exceptions, just do it...
- Respect other members. If someone else is mouthing off at you, don't go off on them in retaliation as you both with be punished. Simply tell a staff member, particularly an admin, and they'll take care of it...
- Try to avoid OOC fighting but, sometimes it happens. If it does, keep it off the boards. Stick with pms if you must...
- Keep all IC disagreements IC. there is to be no arguing about who's character did whatever to yours. That's life, stuff happens...
- All caps and access exclamation points will be considered either raising your voice or yelling so try not to do it, particularly when speaking with staff.
-OOC cursing should be kept to a minimum...
Posting:
- No one liners please. I'm not asking for a novel each time you post but one-liners are lazy excuses for posts. Shoot for four lines at all times, but it isn't required...
- Speech must be in quotations. "like this" or "like this" or "like this", I really don't care. As long as it's in quotes. keeps everything organized that way...
- Spell check! Please people, it is there for a reason. Your spelling doesn't have to be perfect all the time but at least try to use the spell check either in Word or here on the site. If you are caught blatantly misspelling more than half your posts consecutively after warnings from staff, you will be punished accordingly...
- No double posting! If you want to modify a previous post, there's a modify button for you...
- No spamming threads either. Don't but into a thread just to post something like "Hi!", even if those people are good friends of yours. Pm them or make a separate thread...
- Refrain from suspicious activity to raise your post counts. If we see a lot of your posts are random and unnecessary, we will lower your post count. Example: someone posts in 20 threads all over the general board saying things like "i like it" and "cool" and "hi" and stuff like that, real short pointless things. that person's post count will be lowered accordingly...
- IC cursing is allowed but don't go too crazy with it...
- Mature stuff is allowed IC but please put *Private* or *mature* in the thread title.
Characters:
- No Mary sues or Gary Lues... Put more blatantly, no perfect characters. We do not want to read your character's bio and have it say "Sweet and kind but a good fighter." That is a Mary sue, don't do it...
- We as staff have every right to deny the creation of certain hellhounds or request that certain things be changed about it. If your hellhound is huge or has spikes all over or something like that, we will deny its creation and/or request that you change its characteristics accordingly.
- There are other creatures here aside from hellhounds! Dire wolves, timber wolves and humans also roam the area...
- Odd coat colors are allowed but frowned upon... All eye colors are allowed though.
- We expect you to put some effort into your characters. Personalities should be a good paragraph long, so should appearance unless you have a picture...
- You can have an unlimited number of characters but one per account...
- Siggies are to be no wider than 600 pixels and no taller than 300 pixels. I hate it when huge pictures stretch the page...
Mating/Breeding:
- Force-breeding is allowed as that is how dogs breed on the streets. However, it is frowned upon by wolves...
- To become mates, two characters must know each other for at least one role-play day and at least two or three RL days... There will be no "Hi! wanna be my mate?". If that happens, all of your puppies will be declared dead for your next few litters...
- There is no breeding season here so go nuts on that account...
- However, you must pm a staff member (preferably me or Jig) for authorization before having puppies. We will tell you how many there will be, what genders and whether one is deformed and how. How they look and act will be up to you to decide...
- We as staff reserve the right to deny the birthing of a particular litter. Don't worry, we will be sure to give you a good reason...
- The female must remain pregnant for two role play months (though you don't have to roleplay the months out) and three RL days...
- Puppies remain newborns for another three RL days. Then they can be little frisky puppies...
- All other aging course are up to you. try to refrain from speeding up time too much...
- Unwanted puppies may be put up for adoption...
- All pups must have bios in the profile listings...
Fighting/Hunting:
- First and foremost: no powerplaying/godmodding! Just don't do it. Your character is not invincible and cannot hit every time or anything like that. All attacks should be open ended, giving the person you're attacking the ability to decide when they're hit and when they dodge. Examples:
Good- "Bob charged Joe and aimed a bite at his foreleg."
Bad- "Bob charged Joe like a wild beast, teeth barred and slobber flying this way and that. He was larger than Joe and knew he could overpower him. One bite took out the other wolf's foreleg, the bones crunching in his jaws. He could hear Joe squealing in pain..."
Though the second was more descriptive and interesting, it was so totally powerplaying. The first one allowed Joe to decide whether Bod hits or not and that's the way a fight should go.
- NOTE: powerplaying doesn't only happen in fights. "Jill patted the wolf on the head, scratching his ears and laughing when he leaned into her hand." If whoever is playing the wolf didn't already say he was leaning into Jill's hand, then that would also be powerplaying and is also against the rules...
- During a fight, you may not dodge more than three times in a row. If you are attacked three times and dodge all three, you MUST be hit by the fourth blow, even if it is a critical hit. So, alternate accordingly so you don't get your character too injured...
- You cannot kill another character without their player's or staff's permission.
- Staff will only authorize the killing of a character when that character or its player has done something foolish that would ultimately cause its demise. Something like dodging three times in a row and getting hit by the fourth critical attack. That was the player's own fault and the character can die from it. This rarely happens, of course...
- The same rules go for hunting basically. Your character will not successfully take down every single prey they go after. We expect to see three misses for every successful hunt. Even for hellhounds...
- No One Bite Kills! "Bill jumped on its back and bit down. he felt it squirm and then chuckled when it stopped. It was dead..." No... Bil should probably get thrown off first and have to go after it again before he manages to kill it. There isn't a land predator alive that can kill in one try...
- Do some research about certain aspects of your character. If your hound has sabers, you should know that sabers are fragile and will break easily. So, when he hunts, he shouldn't bite onto struggling prey...
Special Note: Have fun and stay active. ^^
