We'll all here because of something else. We'll all die because of this or that. We'll all just pawns on some larger chess board. A board I can't see nor you. I know it's there though. I can't see it, can hear it, smell it, even touch it, but I know. Can you feel it around us? It's here and there. Believe me it's everywhere around us!
How can we all live in this? How can they even bring us to be? Why would I know? I just ask the question. I don't give the answer because all I have are questions.
Why can't things just be as they once were?
Brown eyes slowly opened to the sun. It's bright shine was painful to older eyes. Why did everything have to be so strong and yet so distance? everything was fading. A shiver passed over the hound. His body scarred and half naked. There was a collar of red about his throat. Once so long ago this would have been only a dream.
Orbs blinked, but this was not a dream. He was cold and the sun beat down. Scythe claws dug into the ground as he moved from his pile of leaves out into the sun. It was a crawl on his belly that sent a whine into the noon air. Head rested down on the ground as the sun was allowed to hit his cold form. Eyes closed as he took in the heat. There was no warm bed by a heater anymore. There was just this place and it's weather around him. In his mind's eye the face of a bitch of long ago. A girl named Quake, but she was no more.
"I'm found you Quake." he said to the masked female. She backed up from him shaking her head and growling. "Quake?"
"How dare you say that name!" she growled at him, "She has been dead for several years, there is only Malice in her stead."
"But..." he started as the girl faded away...

Ahhhhh such a wonderous morning, so peaceful and warm. The atmosphere itself was brimming with calm, the hounds happy stride carried her some distance on, tail wagging and ears perked.
"Such a lovely day." She said smiling. "No one's here though...except you squirrell."
In her mind, it was a wonderous day, the smells of a wakeing forest sent chills down her spine. The crisp smell of the wakeing trees, animals starting to move about, the fresh smell and feel of dew. It all reminded her of home, a place she hadn't seen in a long time. She wasn't really going anywhere in particular, simply taking in the feel of nature and doing a bit of early morning patrol. However, all of that ended when she bumped into a mass of fur infront of her. Yipping, she jumped back confused.
"Who's there?" She asked sniffing intently.

The blue and green female with brown around her throat faded away into what was before his aged eyes. A creature of black and red. It ran right into him causing him to "Ouf.." as it collided with his hide underneath tan fur. actually it wa skind of awkward because he found his head under this creature's body. Brown orbs tried to look up, but everything was black.
He fur draped ears caught the remmants of words. It was a question. "Who goes?" he asked in his shaky voice, "You're going to have to speak a bit louder child." The dog blew air out his nose moving a leaf on the ground. "Just an old dog taking in the sun," he told with a breath, "Well I was till your shadow came across me..." He remained still, sycthe claws dug into the ground.

Quickly getting off when she realized he was under her, she took the momment to listen to his words.
"Just an old dog taking in the sun,"
"Ehhhhhhhhhhh sorry." She sniffing. He had a strange smell in her opinion. One that let off that he was old and another that told her he wasn't a normal canine either.
""Um, hope you don't mind me asking," She started, being sure to raise her voice. "But who are you!" She said almost yelling at the end. She wasn't too experienced with the dealings of elders, she hadn't been around any since she was just a pup.

The other creature moved letting him see that it was in fact another canine. He blew a breath of relief as the sun was allowed back on his sniff body warming the furless hide, scars, and muscles. His ears flipped back flicking the hair hanging off. "I said a bit louder child, not yell," he said with a chuckle, "I'm hard of hearing not deaf yet."
"As for your question," again he took a breath, but not just because he needed it, but because he was thinking. What did he want to say? His furred shoulders shrugged. "I'm Cocaine," he finally replied flexing his claws, "And who might you be child? A name for a name you know."

Cocaine She thought to herself semented the name in her mind and pawing at her head alittle from the slight pain. "I'm Sadae." SHe said smiling and wagging her tail.
"Hey ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm are you a wolf?" SHe asked cocking her head alittle out of habit, this time not speaking as loudly. This old one was rather interesting to her, she wondered what he was doing out here all alone. Maybe he was like the others were before joining P4. Many thoughts started running through her head at the thought. Then she started pawing more at her head, whimpering alittle.

"Well met then Sadae." he replied repeating the girl's name. Maybe it's help him remember it later. One could never know the mind was a fickle thing. Stringy tail flipped alittle listening to the next question. Something else hit his ears, however an answer was in order. "A wolf?" another repeat, "Nah, not I. Never a wolf. I once long ago was what the humans call an Afghan. Type of hunting dog I believe, don't really know because I was never a hunter."
Slowly the old dog rolled over onto his side. He was facing the girl and warming a side at the same time. She looked strange, not as strange as him though. "Sadae child were you crying?" he asked. Not tears but sounds,"Or are my ears playing tricks on me again?"

"Sadae child were you crying?"
After a few momments, she began to calm down and the pain lessened. "MY head hurt..." Shhe replied, her ears still low.
"It happens every time I think a lot." She said. "I think those humans did something, but I don't know."
SHe started to whimper again, pawing alittle more at her head feeling distressed.

The answer to his question was an interesting one. Head hurt for just thinking? Sounded like some humans, breaking what they touched. He breathed out of his misshaped muzzle, least on one side. Sadae wouldn't know...
"Then don't think, just do." he informed, "If something comes to your head just do it or ask it. Might not help you for some stuff, could get you in trouble also, but..." breath, "At least you'd spare yourself from thinking on it." His ears perked a bit, he didn't know if it would work or not. Could just be the babbling of an old man.
"Lay down or sit, make yourself comfortable Sadae." he said, her whimpering was making him nervous. The dog didn't really want to get up yet even if there was an urge to go to her.

She nodded, taking the old hound's advice. Laying down close to him, she gave a sigh, closing her eyes alittle before looking over at him.
"I hope you don't mind but...what are you?" She asked out of sheer curiousity. She didn't like not knowing much about the world around her due to how dark it seemed to her.
However, as she spoke, she made sure not to think much for fear of the pain again.

The dog nodded his eyes as the female finally took to his side. His hide twitched a bit as fur touched a bald area. His left ear went off to the side at her next question.
"What I am I've told you, unless you want to know what I've been made," he said. A breath blew out as he looked off into the distance. Long claws dug back into the ground. What had he been made? Seconds passed, "Such is the question to be asked. I don't know what I've been made into. That is the way of some of the humans though to warp and twist the very creature that lay by their side on cold nights."
His voice seemed bitter. It was someone else's side he'd laid by during those cold night. Another had done this to him not her... "What about you? Did they take your eyes or just your mind?"

Ears remained perked as she listened to the old hound, he seemed so sad on the inside, but then you couldn't blame him. "So...you're like the others around here then..." She muttered under her breathe. She spaced out a momment, then her ears perked at his question.
"What about you? Did they take your eyes or just your mind?"
She had to think alittle with this one, she had to try and dig up old memmories of what it was like before and during experimenting.
"Well..." She started, resisting the want to whimper out of pain. "I think both...They opened my headand did stuff, but I think I was another failure. I lost my sight during one surgery." She said. "Don't know why though...I think they did something to my head."

Coke didn't hear her muttering. He would have nodded in agreement having seen a few others. Ears turned some listening to the answer that came. It took him a moment, but he realized something. Thinking caused her and he'd asked a question. Instead of getting just a one or the other the dog got a couple sentences.
"I see," he told, "I know of another female who had their head opened. Your fur grew in through it appears, her's didn't." There was a sigh as he moved curling around the black and red female. The move let his back get the sun. "My fur hasn't grown back either. Probably lazer treatment or something to keep the operation areas free of fur. Save them time..."
Head moved with his body only to rest over a leg. "It's very pausible what you say. One wrong cut in there and you can lose everything. I'm thinking there is probably a mis-firing in your brain that is causing the pain..." he said before giving a shrug, "I'm not a vet or a science thing, only sat in an office everyonce in a while."

She whimpered slightly, laying her head down again and listening to the old one's reply.
"It's very pausible what you say. One wrong cut in there and you can lose everything. I'm thinking there is probably a mis-firing in your brain that is causing the pain..."
"Oh...I guess that makes sense." She said. She wondered how Jigg would react if she told him what she had learned. "Does it hurt?" She asked, looking at his bald rump, it seemed like it would be uncomfortable.

"Does it hurt?"
Brown eyes looked where the girl's muzzle was pointed. She was 'looking' at his back end. The orange skin with pink scars here and there along with strange sections of fur. To the question at paw... "When it's cold out my scars ache. The skin gets tight, sometimes inchy," he informed, "Then I'm cold back there. Gets kind of drafty..." His shaky voice chuckled. The partcially furred tail of his lifted and dropped a few times.
"I miss my fur sometimes, course didn't really mind it till I got out here," he said, "I tell you this living in the wild isn't all as great as they make it out to be."

She nodded alittle at his words.
"I tell you this living in the wild isn't all as great as they make it out to be."
"You lived with good humans once right? Well, what was it like?" She asked, doing her best to keep from thinking to much on the subject, but there was one thought that was slowly forming in the back of her mind.

"One good human," he corrected, "My girl's owners, sire, dame, whatever they call themselves..." The old boy couldn't remember the word parents, "Are the reason for what was done to me, not her." Coke breathed out trying to think. He didn't want to go into the horrible stuff, that wasn't what was asked anyway.
"I had my own bed, a bowl of kibble and another of water," he said, it was so long ago, "Always a warm place to sit or lay. We were each other's family when I was young. THe older humans were too busy with their work to care. Thus it was only us." The old dog's tail curled by his leg. "To be loved and to love back, there just isn't a replacement..."

"Wow." She said rather amazed. She had been listening intently to his recollections as a child would a story-teller. "That sounds amazing, what is kibble? She asked him never hearing of such a thing. "And what's a bowel?" She also asked, cocking her head alittle.
Many curiousities ran through her head as she tried to fantasize what life with humans would be like.

The old dog chuckled, "They didn't feed you in the labs?" he asked before giving an answer, "Kibble is food, comes in different shapes sometimes textures. They said it's suposed to be different flavors, but I never noticed one. Normally some kind of meat flavor, though I'm not sure how much meat is actually in those dry little things." His heavily furred shoulders shrugged.
"As for a bowl, it's a container for holding things. The humans use them for food also." he said, "But they normally give themselves the better food. Why I had a human that shared..."

"Ohhhhhhhhhh...no I didn't get stuff like that in the labs. They just threw my food in." She saod smiling. "Or atleast, I think so anyway." She added not able to remember that clearly about the labs.
"You sure are lucky to have been able to know good humans. I've heard there are some but not many. I wonder why they hate us..." She said tilting her in the other direction.
