Sorry if this has already been answered. I did my best to poke around and find it but I didn't see anything so I figured I'd ask.
Is there any one specific reason the humans began experimenting on the other creatures? We're they all working together for one common goal or was it kind of an individual free for all for personal gain? Or did the experiments start for a good cause and gradually become what they are today? I just wanted to straighten this out before I created my profile.
Sorry, I'm always full of questions xD.

I'm pretty sure it's for many different reasons.

The animals are usually experimented on to serve a particular purpose. For instance, River was going to be created as a government weapon. It is really up to you what the reasons are, but usually it's to better the human world in some way; or if your character is a bad guy, for selfish reasons. Dr. Fliegelswader created Domnopalus because he was obsessed with Alchemy and thought that Domnopalus would help him find the Philosopher's Stone.
